Yuuta films the last days of his terminally ill mother's life at her request. After her death he turns his hours and hours of footage into a film, titled Dead Explosion Mother which featured explosions for what he considers a touch of fantasy. However when shown at school, the film is met with ridicule and disgust by his classmates who believe he has made a joke out of his mother's passing.
After this incident he crosses paths with a girl named Eri, who was fascinated by his movie. She believes he can create an even better film and prove his critics wrong. What kind of film will the two create?
